[issue:295] A serious bug in upTeX 1.24
by ttk＠t-lab.opal.ne.jp 26 May '19

26 May '19

Hi Karl, I have updated (e)upTeX to 1.24 in r50095 and now in TeX Live 2019. https://www.tug.org/svn/texlive?view=revision&revision=50095 But we have found that contains a serious bug related to making control sequences. We tried some workaround but it was found not to be enough. https://github.com/texjporg/tex-jp-build/pull/79 (in Japanese) https://github.com/texjporg/uptex-base/issues/3 (in Japanese) https://oku.edu.mie-u.ac.jp/tex/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=2638 (in Japanese) I have fixed the bug by r51021, r51069, r51221. The latest (e)upTeX 1.25 fixed the issue. I'm very sorry but I wonder if it could be rebuilt and distributed by TeX Live before TeX Live 2020. Best regards, Takuji Tanaka ttk(a)t-lab.opal.ne.jp

Hello Japanese TeX Development Community, Thanks for this upload: On Wed 22 May 2019 at 14:53:42 +0200 CTAN Portal Service <no-reply(a)ctan.org> wrote: > Package: uplatex > Type: announce > Version: 2019-05-22 > Uploader: Japanese TeX Development Community <issue(a)texjp.org> [...] > Announcement: > * Update ukinsoku.tex: Add setting of kcatcode for block > "Halfwidth and Fullwidth Forms" to work around for bug in upTeX 1.24. There is a little problem as our checker complains about 00old/README_uplatex.txt, which is not contained in uplatex.tds.zip. (As a rule, the contents of the unpacked uplatex/ directory and uplatex.tds.zip should be absolutely identical, except for the directory structure, and "generated" files missing from uplatex/.) So what shall we do? I see three possibilities: (a) You re-upload with uplatex.tds.zip containing doc/uplatex/base/00old/README_uplatex.txt. (b) I delete uplatex/00old/ and the file within it. (c) You explain to us why it is imperative that the arrangement remain "as is" and we make a note of this "exception". Frankly, (a) seems to me the cleanest and easiest solution.
