So had we not better rename the CTAN package, too, from the (far too general!) "japanese" to "babel-japanese"?

And if we do this, should we not relocate it from ctan:/language/japanese/japanese/ to ctan:/macros/latex/contrib/babel-contrib/japanese/ ?

(If you agree that this should be done, we will delay the announcement from "now+24hrs" to "end_of_movement+24hrs".)

Seems good to me, as most of language definitions (.ldf) are installed under babel-contrib. Thanks.

I have made these changes on the main server and in the Catalogue's sources. When everything has fallen into place, the package files should be visible world-wide at http://mirror.ctan.org/macros/latex/contrib/babel-contrib/japanese/ and the Catalogue entry should be http://www.ctan.org/pkg/babel-japanese The announcement will therefore only be posted in around 24 hours from _now_.
