There have been a few bug reports on the last patch release, which we addressed and will go into a third patch release in a couple of days. If you have have the time, could you please test platex against the current 'master' branch in the latex2e repo, to see if there aren't any outstanding issues?

The relevant changes this time are mainly regarding how the 'top-level' label in hooks is handled. Before, it was added when the first chunk labelled 'top-level' was added (e.g., at the first \AtBeginDocument in the document preamble), but now the 'top-level' chunk is fixed at the end of the hook. The relevant issue is at https://github.com/latex3/latex2e/issues/441

There was also a change to \usefont, and since platex does some changes to how LaTeX handles fonts, that might be of interest. The issue is at https://github.com/latex3/latex2e/issues/453
